Not at all. We work with complete beginners of all ages from 0–17. Natural confidence and personality matter far more than any prior experience. Many of the children we work with have never been in front of a professional camera before.
A clear, recent smartphone photo is all you need. It should show your child's face well in natural light. Avoid heavy filters, sunglasses, or distracting backgrounds. Natural and relaxed is always better than overly posed.
